Five highways including Sichuan-Tibet Highway, Qinghai-Tibet Highway, Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, Yunnan-Tibet Highway and China-Nepal Highway, pass through the mysterious high land. Within the territory of Tibet, there are no trains in most places, so long-distance bus is the important means of transportation. Here we will list the bus schedules and timetable in various cities and prefecture of Tibet. 

Bus Schedule and Timetable in Lhasa

Main Long-diatance Bus Stations in Lhasa include Lhasa Bus Station, Lhasa East Suburb Bus Station, Lhasa North Suburb Bus Station and Lhasa West Suburb Bus Station. As the transportaiton center in Tibet, there are long-distance buses and regular buses from Lhasa to other areas in Tibet and even cities outside the province.

Bus Schedule and Timetable in Shigatse

Highways in Shigatse extend in all directions, including national highway 318, Riya(Shigatse-Yadong) highway, Lapu(Lhasa-Purang) highway and China-Nepal highway. Most travelers have chosen to go to Shigatse from Lhasa because Lhasa is usually the starting destination of a Tibet tour. There are buses departing from Lhasa Bus Station to Shigatse Bus Station.

Qamdo bus station is the most important bus terminal in Qamdo. There are long-distance buses from Qamdo Bus Station to Chengdu, Lhasa, Markam, Zayu, Nagqu, Nyingchi, Bome and other places.

Bus Schedule and Timetable in Nyingchi

Main bus terminals in Nyingchi include Nyingchi Bus Station and Mainling County Bus Station. There are buses running to Mainling County, Nang County, Bome County and Zayu County in Nyingchi area and also Lhasa, Qamdo and Lhoka in Tibetan area. There is also intercity bus from Nyingchi to Chengdu every day.

Tsedang Town is about 160km to south Lhasa. There are long-distance buses running to Tsedang Town from Lhasa everyday. There are regular buses to Gonggar, Gyaca, Lhunze, Qonggyai and some other counties of Shannan area from bus terminals in the downtown. The buses to Gyaca departs at 9:30 and 11:00, which takes about 7 hours to arrive and costs 80 yuan.

Ngari Bus Staion is the main bus terminal in Ngari. Highway transport is the main transport in Ngari. There are four roads leading to Ngari: Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, northern road, southern road and the Amdo-Shiquanhe road. If tourists would like to get to Ngari by long-distance bus, there are two roads head to Ngari from Lhasa, Northern Road(1,760km) and Southern Road(1,190km). And it’s the most economical and common way for tourists to get into Ngari.

Bus Schedules and Timetable in Nagqu

After arriving at Lhasa by air or train, tourists can take long-distance bus to Nagqu, which is about 330 kilometers away from Lhasa. Nagqu is an important City in Tibet, and also an important traffic artery along Qinghai-Tibet Highway. The transportation from Nagqu to other destinations is relatively convenient, especially the transport to Lhasa and Qinghai.
