About Dana Monastery in Namling County, Shigatse

Dana Monastery was built in 1202 by Ziwu Basangwangbu(孜吾巴桑旺布). It has over 798 years history and belongs to Gama Geju sect(噶玛格举派). Dana Monastery mainly dedicated Xinwu Buddha(辛吾佛) and the representative one named Jinmeiquyang(晋美曲央). In 1985, Dana Monastery was approved by authorities and allocated 29 thousand yuan, together with the self financing of the religious believers, it gradually recovered. Up to 2000, it covers an area of 5,220 m² and has 39 monks.
