About Gedan Zhuopeilin Monastery in Tingri County, Shigatse

Gedan Zhuopeilin Monastery is located in Labuqi Mountain of Tingri County. It’s Tibetan Buddhist style and was created by a Drikung Kagyu monks. The main buildings of this monastery include Lama Lakang(喇嘛拉康), Du Kang(杜康), Zang Kang(藏康). In the Lama Lakang, mainly worship the bone ash of Milariba(米拉日巴), Tongwadundan sculpture(通瓦顿丹像) and ancestral image of  Bka’-brgyud-pa. The famous scenic spot near the Gedan Zhuopeilin Monastery is Niushe Cave(牛舌洞), which has oxtogue shaped rocks and the place of Milariba passed away.

Gedan Zhuopeilin Monastery is located in Labuqi Mountain(拉布齐神山) of Tingri County, Shigatse. Visitors can take long-distance bus or choose self-driving from Tingri County government. Please pay attention to weather conditions. In the rainy season (July & August), cars often get struck in the mud and delays happen frequently.

• Avoid touching the head of monks or nuns and show respect to a nun or monk or spiritual teacher.
• Remove your shoes and your hat when entering a shrine room or monastery.
