Jiang Qulin Monastery is located in the northeast of Quxu County next to the Lhasa river, the scenery is beautiful. The temple was created in 1189 by Zangba Jiare Yixi Duojie(藏巴嘉热·益西多杰). It is said that when the temple was first established, the thunder was heard, later the thunder was mainly called as the master of the temple in Tibetan language. This temple belongs to Geju Sect(噶举派).

Zhuba Geju(主巴噶举) was firstly based on the master temple, which was later transferred to Relong temple(热垄寺). The Guan Yixi(管一系) from the Relong temple(热垄寺) is called the middle Zhuba(中主巴), from which the middle Zhuba is divided into several branches. Among which the upper and the lower Zhuba are famous, but all are regarded Jiang Qulin Monastery as the main ancestor temple. This sect is characterized by the emphasis on the ascetic, and later it was introduced to Bhutan then formed the south Zhuba.
