About Medog Nature Reserve

Medog Nature Reserve is one of the largest nature reserve in Medog County, Nyingchi, Tibet. It covers an area of around 4,600 square kilometers. This reserve is also known as the Nature Museum of Plants and Animals for its major vegetation types of humid regions and the best preserved primitive jungle. This place is a less traveled attraction in the valleys of the Yarlungzangbo River’s bend.

This reserve has a great variety of vegetation, including tropical biotic species and 3,000 more species of higher plants. Due to its complex natural environment, Medog Nature Reserve becomes a homeland to various wild animals, such as red-chested tragopan, grey-bellied tragopan and langur, etc.

Attraction Transportation

There are two ways for tourists to choose when they want to travel in Medog County.

1. By air

Flying to Nyingchi Milin Airport from Lhasa, Chengdu, Kunming or Chongqing and take the airport shuttle bus to Bayi Town in Nyingchi. It costs around CNY 25 and takes about one hour. Then take a regular minibus from Bayi Town to Paizhen Town. Bus fare is around CNY 60. Alternatively, visitors can charter a taxi to Pai Village. It costs around CNY 350.

2. By bus

Taking a long distance bus from the Eastern Suburb Coach Station in Lhasa to Bayi Town in Nyingchi. It costs around CNY 150. Then catch the above-mentioned minibus to Pai Village.
