About Lhotse Mountain
Pingcuolin Monastery（平措林寺）is located in Pingcuolin Township（平措林乡）, Lhatse County（拉孜县）, Shigatse Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, which is 4,100 meters above sea level. It was built by the host of the Presided Monk Duoluo Nata（多罗那他）in 1615. The monastery belongs to one of the 13 monasteries which changed their religious sect from Juelang sect（觉朗派）in the reign of the Dalai Lama to one of the most famous and pious Gelug sects（格鲁派）. There are 35 palace halls and a chanting hall with 3,300 monks all together in the monastery. In addition, there 94 Dayerata（达耶拉塔） Bedrooms which are all nine-story high at the top of the monastery mountain.
The Collections in Pingcuolin Monastery
The monastery saves many precious old mural and 164 gold-plated bronze Buddha statues, such as Shengwei Vajra（生威金刚）, Shilun Vajra（时轮金刚）, Shenghle Vajra（胜乐金刚）, etc. There also collects four treasures: one is the crosier of Tubuwa·Xiraojianzan（土布瓦喜绕坚赞）which is 1 meter long; the second one is the cane of Dayerata（达耶拉塔）given by the Mongolian which is carved with the Mongolian language, the Tibetan language, the Chinese dragon and other mysterious and ancient totems with the height of 1.2 meters; the third one is the religious cymbals of Duoluo Nata（多罗那他） which is said to help people get out of struggle; The last one is a pair of gemstones.
Festivals and Activities of Pingcuolin Monastery
Every 27th of December in the Tibetan lunar calendar, there will be a grand and pious Tiaoshen Festival（跳神节） held in the monastery. And every 8th of October, it will celebrate the religious ceremony festival to worship Dumu God（朝拜度母仪式）.
There is only one train running through Lhatse which passes over 253 kilometers for the ticket fee of 40 RMB. It takes about 3 hours by car.
