About Qiangqin Temple

Located at the foot of the Gongbajiabu Mountainin (贡巴加布山) of Tibet Autonomous Region and with an altitude of about 3,800 meters above sea level,it was built by Renbu Zongzong Benobu Sanbo in 1427. Covering an area of about 6,000 square meters, more and more monks and worshippers come to Qiangqin Temple after vicissitudes occurred more than 600 years.

Once you get into Qiangqin Temple, you’ll see the white pagoda on the west side with three-floors of  structure, white wall, wide open window which made it more primitive simplicity and elegant.

Dedicated to Qiangqin Temple, the main hall is divided into two levels.Entering the hall, there was nothing but silence adding the mystery here.

You can choose either self-driving traveling or take public transportation. According to your beginning place, there may be different ways to go to Rinbung County. There are two main lines available below.

  • Lhasa- Shigatse- Rinbung County

You can reach Lhasa by air or train. Then take a bus to Rinbung County.

  • Shigatse- Rinbung County

You can also take a specific train to Shigatse and take a bus to Rinbung County.

  3. High Altitude Sickness Avoiding: Bring enough water or drinks, fruits and snacks with high caloric content.
  4. Pay attention to prepare some cold weather gear like a hat, gloves, a scarf and a thick winter coat.
  5. The Border Permit is required to enter the mountain; as it is less convenient to apply for one in Tibet, it is suggested to obtain the permit ahead of the travelling.
