About Rijia Monastery in Xaitongmoin County, Shigatse
Rijia Monastery, as the birthplace of Bon religion, is 8 kilometers away from Xaitongmoin County seat. It was found by Xinqin Luga(辛钦.鲁嘎) and extended by Gunqin Yixiluozhuo(滚钦•益西洛卓) in 1179. Rijia temple is composed of two parts; one is Sheguchamu mansion(府邸色古查姆) of Xin family and another is Rijia Monastery. The management system of this monastery is Kanbu system(堪布制). Up to now, there are 36 head lamas from Xin family. Rijia Monastery stands on the top of the mountain and there are numerous halls here. The most important hall for local Buddhist monks to recite scriptures named Kangba Lacang(康巴扎仓).
Rijia temple was consecrated as holy land by Bon believers. Every year, pilgrims from Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and other places of Tibet come here and many cultural scholars also come here to visit and study. What’s more,Rijia Monastery has been declared as a national 2A tourist attraction. 
 
Attraction Transportation: Rijia Monastery is 8 kilometers away from Xaitongmoin County seat, so visitors can take bus or choose self-driving from Xaitongmoin County to Kaga Village.
