About Xiongse Monastery
Xiongse Monastery is located on the hillside of Xiongse mountain(雄色山) along the southern bank of the Lhasa river, it is the largest Buddhist nun temple in Tibet.

History of the Xiongse Monastery
The temple was destroyed during the Great Cultural Revolution, and part of the Buddhist temples and monasteries were gradually restored after 1985. The temple mainly consists of two parts, the Buddhist Hall and the monk’s house. The monk’s house was located on the hillside not far from the hall. The hall was built on a platform in front of the monk’s house. The main buildings were a white tower, a great hall, and a small hall also called a Tibetan chamber. There are more than 100 nuns in the monastery.

We can take a shuttle bus from Lhasa to Quxu County, then transfer a local mini bus to Xiongse Monastery.
